The emergence of The REME resulted in a change of responsibility, the RAOC dispensed with repair of ordnance concentrating on the repair of transport for the RASC and in conjunction with Royal Engineers some bomb disposal was undertaken.
All small arms as well a vehicles and guns were now under the workshop control of REME both in the field workshops, base workshops.
