It is 70 years since Royal Naval Aircraft enjoyed the skies over HMS Ringtail we are proud to be instrumental in cooperation with Her Majesties Royal Navy (Air) Branch that they did so again on Sunday 26th May. In a commemorative flypast to honour the importance of RNAS Burscough’s (HMS Ringtail) contribution in the Second World War.

FLY PAST BELOW 

Lead aircraft is* Swordfish TSR Mk 2 LS326 which itself served in combat at sea during battle of Atlantic. Legend Mk 2 denotes, it was rocket-equipped to operate in a fighting-pair combination, usually with a Martlet fighter from the escort carrier.  *Now based at Yeovilton & Duxford in rotation.

Astern is a Lynx HMA Mk 8 (of either 815 NASqd or 702 NAS RNAS Yeovilton.

·

The large grey helicopter is a Merlin HM Mk 1 from RNAS Culdrose.

·

The red / grey helicopter Sea King HU Mk 5 Search & Rescue 771 NAS at RNAS Culdrose.

·

The striped aircraft is a Sea King HC Mk 4 of 845 NAS (one of 4 FAA squadrons that constitute the Royal Navy Commando Helicopter Force at RNAS Yeovilton).
