Graves by ‘military association’ or relative/commemoration. (Burscough Lathom)

Purpose of this page is to identify by burial those who served survived ultimately to die, having lived beyond service, buried at home, be that death by whatever cause.

.  Additionally it will accumulate ‘commemorations of the fallen’ in conflict who are so remembered upon family graves be they spouse or ‘kith kin’ or beloved parents who outlived their ‘fallen’ sons daughters by many a year or more.

This is social & military history entwined.

As 2023 closed i had been aware of Seventy Three associated military graves in St John The Baptist Church, Burscough Bridge, had been so for some years. In addition Four in St John The Evangelist Church Chapel Lane, Burscough Town.

So 77 In Burscough alone.

At the outset of this work in progress (for sure that is what this will become) i wish to place on record my appreciation to Pauline Rimmer who as a family researcher or church archivist Pauline’s knowledge & humour been invaluable for a number of years.
